Wood siding and older homes

Older wood siding often has many coats of paint and some soft spots. We scrape and sand down to sound paint, replace failed caulk, make minor wood repairs and prime bare wood before we paint. That prep is what keeps a repaint from peeling in two years.

Prep and protection

  1. Power wash to remove dirt, chalk and mildew
  2. Scrape, sand and repair
  3. Spot-prime bare wood and repairs
  4. Cover plants, walkways, windows and fixtures
  5. Two coats on siding and trim where needed

Common questions

When is the best time to paint outside?

Spring and fall are ideal, but we paint whenever temperature and humidity allow. We watch the forecast and adjust the schedule so the paint cures properly.

Can you fix rotted wood?

We repair minor rot as part of prep. If we find damage bigger than that, we’ll show you and price it separately before doing any work.

Should I paint or stain my deck?

It depends on the wood and how much wear it gets. Stain is easier to maintain; paint gives a solid color. We’ll help you choose.
